Corsair a company well known for its high performance RAM, USB flash drives and power supplies has just announced its new range of Force 3 SSDs featuring the SandForce SF-2281 SSD processor and claiming a massive 85,000 IOPS in capacities ranging from 60GB to 240GB.

The Force 3 range features read and write speeds of up to 550MB/s and 520MB/s respectively and 85,000 random 4K write IOPS based on a measurement by IOMeter 08 with a 4K-aligned partition. The retail kit comes with a 3.5″ adapter to fit a standard 3.5″ desktop PC bay.

One thing worth noting is that different manufacturers use different tools to come up with their IOPS ratings and even though OCZ only claims up to 60,000 IOPS on its Vertex 3 SSD, this same 85000 IOPS reading can be obtained on their SSD in IOMeter as clearly shown on the IOMeter tests page of the Vertex 3 preview at MyCE.

These SSDs will be available this month with suggested retail prices of US$128 for the 60GB model, US$219 for the 120GB model and US$499 for the 240GB model.
